Five criteria for choosing an AI consulting or implementation partner
Whatever the tier, whether these five items are written on the quote matters more than the number.
- Process scope: Which process, from which input to which recorded result. ‘An AI assistant’ is not a scope.
- System integration: Which systems, through which interfaces, and what happens where integration is not possible.
- Human approval points: Who approves, pays and makes external commitments. The AI should not approve on a person’s behalf.
- Acceptance and timeline: Test with your own business samples; in published cases invoice routing took about three months and site timesheets about ten weeks.
- After delivery: Who maintains it, how versions are pinned, where to look first when something breaks, and whether the partner stays involved.
How much does AI implementation cost in New Zealand?
Public ranges: advisory and roadmap NZD 12,000 to 35,000; a first workflow implementation NZD 25,000 to 90,000; boutique point tools NZD 500 to 15,000; subscription agents 2,500 to 12,000 setup plus 150 to 800 a month; consultant hourly rates NZD 180 to 450.
